Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, in some ways the the 9-1-1 universe has figured out the formula for the perfect drama. It understands what we all crave from police and legal procedurals: truly insane cases that make you want to turn to the person next to you and scream “Did that just happen?” Throw in some heaping cups of romantic tension between gorgeous people, and bam. You’ve got yourself a hit. Here’s when and how you can watch the return of 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Lone Star.

Is 9-1-1 New Tonight? Is 9-1-1: Lone Star New Tonight?

They both certainly are. Tonight, April 19, marks the return of 9-1-1 Season 4 and 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2. Both of these first-responder dramas debuted their new seasons in mid-January, but they went on hiatus in early March. After a six week break, the Los Angeles and Texas-based dramas are finally returning.

9-1-1 is coming back with a new episode titled “Blindsided.” That will be immediately followed by 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s new episode, “Saving Grace.”

Can I Get a 9-1-1 Recap?

The last time we saw our LA-based heroes they were dealing with a hostage situation in an airplane, and a woman who was trying to kill her husband and hide him in a wall. Normal stuff, really. But we know you’re not really looking for the disasters of the week. What was going on with our heroes?

Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) tried to figure out a home birthing plan that didn’t interfere with COVID protocols. And to the surprise of no one,  Buck (Oliver Stark) was at the center of some dating drama. After Christopher (Gavin McHugh) learned that Eddie (Ryan Guzman) was dating, he turned to Buck for reassurance. Meanwhile Buck dealt with his own complicated love story that involved sharing a date with Chimney’s brother and his roommate, Albert (John Harlan Kim).

Can I Get a 9-1-1: Lone Star Recap?

9-1-1: Lone Star ended with quite a bit more in-series drama. First, let’s start with Carlos (Rafael Silva). After dealing with a case involving a bank robber with a bomb strapped to his chest, Carlos made the wrong decision. His mismanagement of this suspect could very well cost him his career as a police officer.

Meanwhile, TK (Ronen Rubinstein) celebrated his first year of sobriety, but his celebration was cut short. Why? Because he learned that Gwyneth (Lisa Edelstein) and Owen (Rob Lowe) had broken up and that their baby wasn’t really Owen’s. Nothing kills a mood like the breakup of some close friends. That’s going to be a saga this series will need to address.

And because the 9-1-1 universe gets anxious if it’s playing it too safe, Episode 8 also included a kidnapping saga and a near-death experience. While on duty TK, Tommy (Gina Torres), and Nancy (Brianna Baker) were all kidnapped. They escaped, but Grace (Sierra McClain) and Judd (Jim Parrack) weren’t quite so lucky. Episode 8 ended with them being run off the road and into a lake. This new episode will address whether they lived or not. Fingers crossed that everyone will be safe and well enough to keep up this show’s insane pace.
