Move over, Poe Dameron. Scram, Apocalypse. Oscar Isaac is potentially taking on another huge role in another beloved franchise. Isaac is reportedly in negotiations to star in the new Marvel series Moon Knight for Disney+.
The series was announced back in 2019, along with She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel at Disney’s D23 showcase. Casting for those two series has previously been announced, with Tatiana Maslany reported to star as She-Hulk, and Iman Vellani cast as Ms. Marvel.
The character of Moon Knight first debuted in a Marvel comic in 1975’s Werewolf By Night before getting his own franchise. Moon Knight is the alter ego of Marc Spector, a mercenary who, upon his deathbed, struck a deal with the Egyptian god Khonshu to embody Khonsu’s spirit in exchange for his life. Upon his return home, Spector created the persona “Moon Knight,” a silver-caped hero intent of fighting crime while also creating other secret identities in the process.
Jeremy Slater, who adapted The Umbrella Academy series for Netflix, is set to develop and write the Moon Knight series. Moon Knight will not premiere on Disney+ until 2022.
Oscar Isaac is well-known for playing pilot Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise, Llewyn Davis in the Coen Brothers film Inside Llewin Davis, and the villainous Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse. He is also set to star in the recently-announced Francis and The Godfather, portraying a young Francis Ford Coppola during the making of The Godfather. Fans appear torn by the casting choice, but there is one thing they all seem to agree on:
