Gov. Newsom joined by California health execs at French Laundry dinner: report

Doctors’ association executives were among the guests at a pricey Napa Valley dinner attended by Gov. Gavin Newsom that saw the Democrat catch heat for being a COVID-19 hypocrite, a new report said.

California Medical Association CEO Dustin Corcoran and lobbyist Janus Norman joined Newsom at the dinner for 12 at elite dining institution French Laundry to celebrate the birthday of Newsom adviser Jason Kinney, Politico reported on Wednesday.

The presence of Corcoran and Norman at the opulent dinner is likely to add fuel to the fire after news of the soiree leaked just hours after Newsom pushed state guidelines discouraging such large gatherings, let alone including members of more than three households.

Newsom told Californians last week to rethink their own Thanksgiving dinner plans as the state surpassed 1 million confirmed coronavirus cases.

A spokesperson for the CMA said in a statement to Politico that “the dinner was held in accordance with state and county guidelines.”

But photos from the mask-less French Laundry dinner show Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom seated next to Norman.

“I should have modeled better behavior,” Newsom said Friday after the photos surfaced.
