A Long Island driver triggered a fatal five-car smash-up over the weekend, authorities said.
Ant’Wan Pevy, 25, of Ronkonkoma was behind the wheel of a 2011 Kia sedan heading north on Nicolls Road in Centereach, Suffolk County, when “a medical event” allegedly caused him to lose control, according to officials.
His Kia hit a 2016 Nissan SUV being driven by Zachary Morrison, 29, of Holbrook at the intersection of Middle Country Road, police said.
Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pevy’s car also struck a 2018 Mercedes, a 2015 Audi and 2000 Jeep, authorities said.
No one in the other cars suffered injuries, police said.
Pevy was taken to the hospital for observation and later charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle by Suffolk County Police.
