ESPN’s NBA Draft broadcast doesn’t have a chance against Adrian Wojnarowski

If you don’t want to know, don’t look at his Twitter.

During Wednesday night’s 2020 NBA Draft, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski continued his tradition of spoiling picks on his Twitter feed, sometimes beating his own network’s broadcast by two picks.

For example, Wojnarowski announced Detroit would be picking Killian Hayes at No. 7 before the No. 6 pick was officially announced. He did the same with LaMelo Ball at No. 3 to Charlotte, tipping it off even before James Wiseman was formally announced at No. 2 to Golden State.

Though ESPN has instructed its reporters not to tip off picks in the past, Wojnarowski has often ignored that advice in order to compete with rival newsbreaker Shams Charania of The Athletic.

As analysts Jay Williams and Jay Bilas debated who would be best for the Knicks to select at No. 8 on the braodcast, Wojnarowski had long since spoiled the news.

This year he’s continued to find creative ways to tip-toe the line with his draft reports, writing that Detroit was “targeting” Hayes at No. 7 and that Charlotte was “focused” on Ball at No. 3.
