Ant Anstead devastated by Christina Anstead split

Ant Anstead’s shocking split from Christina Anstead left him in “a very dark place.”

The “Wheeler Dealers” host, 41, married the HGTV star, 37, in 2018 following a whirlwind Trans-Atlantic romance, welcoming son Hudson a year later. But after less than two years of marriage, the couple announced their surprise separation.

Anstead confesses that the breakup knocked him down but he’s healing slowly.

“Every day is an improvement,” he told People. Obviously, going back a couple of months, I mean, it was a big hit.”

The physical aftermath was a 20-pound weight loss.

“It really hit me hard,” the former policeman confessed. “The impact on me, my sleep, my diet, my stress, it showed.

“But I reached this turning point where I was either going to dwell in the darkness or I was just going to slap myself around the face a few times and say, ‘Wake up; you’re incredibly blessed. Focus on all the great things.’”

One of the things he did was sign up for a 35-day online “breakup recovery” course, and a three-day faith-based retreat which made him realize “how incredibly worthy I am of healing.”

Anstead also says he has leaned on his two older children from his first marriage — Amelie, 17, and Archie, 14 — who live in the UK with their mother and his first wife, Louise.

“They are genuinely my best friends,” he said of the teens, adding that the call telling them about the split was “very, very difficult.

“They loved Christina — they still do — and they really wanted us to work,” he explained. “I think every child just wants to see their parents happy.”

And Anstead has found joy in his youngest son, who he’s nicknamed Hudzo.

“This process without him would’ve been incredibly difficult,” he said. “He’s filled my heart. He really saved me.”

The California-based TV personality would like to maintain a close relationship with Christina’s two children, Taylor, 10, and son Brayden, 5, whom she shares with her first husband “Flip or Flop,” costar, Tarek El Moussa.

Still, it’s a slow process for Anstead.

As he noted, “there’s no quick fix for a broken heart.”

Christina, meanwhile, mended her fractured heart by purchasing a yacht named Aftermath.
